When traveling to Mexico's Baja California Peninsula, it’s pretty common to wonder: Are Los Cabos and Cabo San Lucas the same thing? Keep reading to find out!
Is cabo and los cabos the same? The short answer is, sort of! Cabo San Lucas is a city within the larger Los Cabos region, which also includes San Jose del Cabo and the Tourist Corridor that connects both cities. While people often use the terms Cabo and Los Cabos interchangeably, they don't mean the same thing.
Cabo San Lucas is just one part of the Los Cabos area. The region is served by the same airport, Los Cabos International Airport, which is about 40 minutes from Cabo San Lucas and 30 minutes from San Jose del Cabo.
If you look at a Los Cabos map, you’ll see Cabo San Lucas at the southern tip of the Baja California Peninsula, while San Jose del Cabo is just northeast of it. Together, these two cities form Los Cabos meaning "the two Cabos."

San Jose del Cabo is your spot. It's quieter, with a thriving art scene and cute boutique shops. On the other hand, if you want more action, with plenty of bars, restaurants, and tourist attractions, Cabo San Lucas is the place for you.
And now when someone asks "Is Los Cabos the same as Cabo San Lucas?" you'll be able to confidently explain that while they’re part of the same region, each town has its own unique feel. Whether you choose, you’re in for a fantastic experience in Baja California!
